I noticed it after doing what I always did—following through, double-checking, staying attentive even when no one was watching.
The work landed cleanly.
And then it moved on, untouched by how much of myself I had put into it.
There was no difference between dedication and adequacy.
When effort stops distinguishing you

I became more contained.

No one dismissed my dedication.
The system simply didn’t record it.

Dedication passed through without residue.
What became clear
I didn’t stop being dedicated that day.
I stopped assuming dedication changed anything beyond the moment it was offered.
The structure valued completion, not commitment.
This was another quiet expression of The Interchangeable Feeling, revealed through the limits of dedication.
That was when I realized being dedicated didn’t matter, even though it was still expected.
