So I stay, not because it’s right, but because it’s easier to justify.

Inertia can look like contentment when comfort is involved.

Why do high salaries feel restrictive instead of freeing?

Because they raise expectations and obligations, making deviation feel costly.

Is this the same as golden handcuffs?

Yes. The term describes how financial rewards can limit perceived freedom.

Does this mean the salary isn’t worth it?

Not necessarily. It means compensation alone can shape choices more than we realize.
